WHAT IS URTICARIA?
These are wheal like eruptions characterized by red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes, each one characteristically lasts no longer than six to 12 hours.
CAUSES
- Unknown
- Allergic reaction to food, medication or insect sting.
- After physical exercise or exertion
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
- Red, very itchy, smoothly elevated areas of skin often with a blanched center.
- It can change size rapidly and disappear from one place and reappear at other places, often in a matter of hours.
- It flare up suddenly
It is useful to bring the photograph of the eruptions along because by the time you reach our clinic, the rash may disappear.
