Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann (10 April 1755 – 2 July 1843) was a German physician, best known for creating a system of alternative medicine called Homoeopathy.
Homoeopathy is a comprehensive system of medicine that is based on a definite law ‘Similia Similibus Curantur’ which means ‘like cures like’. The word 'homoeos' means 'like' or 'similar' and 'pathos' means 'suffering' i.e. Homoeopathy is a 'Medicine of likes'.
It is a method of curing the sufferings in a person by administration of remedies that have the capacity to produce similar sufferings in a relatively healthy individual. Disease is most surely, radically, rapidly and permanently annihilated and cured because the symptoms of the medicine chosen are similar to the disease symptoms but superior to it in strength.
Homoeopathy considers the man as a whole, not his individual parts. Hahnemann said "There is no disease, but sick people". Health is the balanced state of life that is characterized by the normal functioning of the spiritual vital force. When vital force is deranged then the normal functioning of the whole being also gets disturbed. This derangement of the vital force results in sickness, it is the whole man that is sick not just his body part. Restoration of the deranged vital force is the sole object of the Homoeopathic treatment, once it is restored, then the whole man will return to health which further lead to the complete harmony in the body parts and functioning of the body.
“On my honour I swear that I shall practice the teachings of Homoeopathy, perform my duty, render justice to my patients and help the sick whosoever comes to me for treatment. May the teachings of master Hahnemann inspire me and may I have the strength for fulfillment of my mission.”
